Aim is to discover the best monochrome photographers from all over the world and deliver the best opportunities to be recognized and rewarded for their work. You can compete for $5000 in cash prizes in two categories: Black and White Photo of the Year 2024 and Black and White Series of the Year 2024.

Founded in 2016, this space showcases artists ranging from 19th to 21st century, highlighting artists who use progressive methods to build upon the 200-year-old medium. With special attention to fine print, artworks feature various genres including photojournalism, mixed-media, landscape, still life, and portraiture.

Luther Gerlach and Little River Studio

After apprenticing with Brett Weston for two years and establishing his career as a fine art photographer specializing in ultra large format wet plate collodion, Gerlach began working with the Education Department at the J Paul Getty museum where he led lectures, demonstrations and workshops for over 20 years. As a master printer and conservator, Gerlach has applied his meticulous craftsmanship and technical expertise to prints residing in collections including the The Michael Wilson Centre of Photography, the Graham Howe collection, the National Portrait Gallery in London, and the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution.
