Talking Eyes Media Internship, PAID

2014 Fall Multimedia Production Intern

This position is for a six-month internship that requires a five-day per week commitment in our Montclair, New Jersey office from AUGUST 4, 2014 – JANUARY 30, 2015. (We are located 35 minutes by train from New York Penn Station.)
This is a paid, advanced-level production internship. Interns must not only have strong editing skills, but must also be looking to expand and develop their storytelling skills, and work collaboratively with our production team.
The primary responsibility of this internship will include helping to edit short 2-3 minute videos.

 

Responsibilities

• * Editing
• * Importing and organizing media content
• * Transcoding video
• * Scripting
• * Transcription and subtitling
• * Assisting producers and editors with story development

 

Desired skills & experience:

• * A passion for multimedia storytelling and social issues
• * Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro 7, Photoshop, and Expressions Media
• * Ability to execute, multi-task and meet deadlines
• * Must be self-motivated, a team player, and prepared to work independently. We will work closely and provide regular input and feedback, but we expect the right candidate to take a project from raw media to an assembly stage
• * Familiarity with After Effects is not required but is a strong plus
• * Please note: Although this internship’s main responsibilities will not include shooting, filming capabilities is also a plus.

Submissions have included photos of friends, family members, pets, high school graduations, objects, and places that are too difficult to view again. Lazarus returns these shadow images to the light in the form of books and exhibitions culled from his archive, but their dark pathos remains attached.

Color in photography has symbolism and meaning that travels beyond what you see. 

More than the combination of red, green, and blue or cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, color is a visual tool for non-verbal communication: a viewer's perception and connection to an image can be significantly enhanced by a certain hue.
Strip away the subject matter from a photograph, and what is left behind? Two things. The underlying geometry of the photo, its composition or balance, and the color.  The design and geometry make an image coalesce, become solid, and enduring. Whereas the color carries the opposite message, one of transience and impermanence. That’s because colors are not inherent in objects, but change  and evolve with the changing light – and we photographers know, light is always changing.
Hues must contrast or complement one another to create a successful image, a delicate dance of visual balance. For this exhibit we are looking for works that exemplify the innate power of color.  Images that drive us through hue to an emotive response.

Files:  Images should be as large as possible but no larger than 1280 pixels on the longest side, type jpg - set to the highest quality. The color space should be set to sRGB. DPI is only relevant for output purposes and does not effect the stored size of the image. It can be set to any number, but if you must specify something go with 72 dpi.

The Julian Gardner Awards Call for Entry

 

 The competition was launched in memory of Julian Gardner, a Sussex farmer and lifelong supporter of the Trust, who was tragically killed while defending his property in October 2010.
A very kind donation from Julian’s family and friends enabled us to buy the trophies for the two age categories. Martin Munn was presented with his award and a print of his picture on Saturday 20 July at the CLA Game Fair. Christopher Page was unable to attend and will receive his award at a later date.
The GWCT is now looking for entries for this year's awards. The competition is open to all amateur photographers, not just our members, and is related to our research and advisory work – taking in all aspects of the UK countryside, including the people who live and work there, game, wildlife, all the various habitats and of course landscape.
There are two categories:

• Adult section – The winner will be awarded the GWCT Julian Gardner trophy - a sculpture of a hare
• 16 and under section - The winner will be awarded the GWCT Julian Gardner junior trophy - a sculpture of a leveret

The top three winning photos from each section will be printed in our membership magazine Gamewise and featured on our website. The images will be judged by world-renowned professional photographer Laurie Campbell, Peter Thompson (GWCT Biodiversity Advisor) and Louise Shervington (GWCT Publications Editor).

Awards: $13,000 in prizes. Curator’s Choice Awards will be selected from Maine Media’s Seasons Contest entries, for display during, or in conjunction with, Bay Chamber Concerts’ performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at the Rockport, Maine Opera House.

Judging: Dawna Hilton (Director of Photography, Down East Magazine), Jim Nickelson (Fine Art Photographer, Custom Digital Printer and Educator), Eddie Soloway (Internationally Known Nature Photographer and Educator), and Bay Chamber Concerts staff will select the Curator’s Choice Award winners.(Winners will be notified 4 weeks after submission deadline)
