     This is a call for all genres of landscape: natural, urban, industrial, and abstract. Show us how you see the world. 

All capture and processing methods are welcome.

We are very pleased that Jacob and Alissa Hessler will curate this exhibit. They will select up to 35 images for exhibition in the Middlebury, Vermont gallery, and another 35 images for the Online gallery. All 70 images will appear in the exhibit catalog.

Penumbra Workspace Program

Apply to Penumbra's Artist Residency located in New York City.

Specifications:

• Residents receive an honorarium of $4000 in two payments of $2000 (housing and other expenses are the sole responsibility of the artist).
• Workspace residents receive from two weeks to four weeks of liberal access to the B&W labs, digital tools, alternative processes darkroom and shooting studios at Penumbra Foundation.
• The Penumbra-Workspace-Program is open to us based emerging artists working in photo-based imaging.
• Applicants using alternative techniques and/or new interpretations of historic processes to produce their art are encouraged to apply.
• One laboratory for black-and-white printing, which can produce prints up to 20x24 inches from up to 8x10 inches negatives
• One private black-and-white lab which can produce prints up to 20x24 inches from up to 8x10 inches negatives
• One alternative photography darkroom fully equipped for all alternative processes including daguerreotypes, cyanotypes, wet collodion, etc

Celestial Bodies Call for Entry

This is for Shots Magazine. They have a call for entries quarterly throughout the year so this is for sure a magazine to keep your eye on. There are different prices for entry fees depending on if you are or are not a subscriber to the magazine. I did not find anything about an award, but this could be a cool opportunity to get work published. The theme for this quarter is celestial bodies and is completely open to the photographer's interpretation.

This seems like a smaller local exhibition but still interesting! Submissions are $39 for the first five images and an additional $6 for each additional image. 35 images will be featured in the physical gallery and another 35 images will be featured online. They offer their own printing, matting, and framing in house which at its face value is free but you can add on parts for an extra fee. This is a small competition that I would suggest landscape photographers to check out because there is a high chance of being selected! 

Open Call: The Guardian Project, for Documentary and Photojournalists

This competition is for documentary and photojournalists. The categories are nature/environment/wildlife, people/portraits, street photography, contemporary new/current events, and project photo series. There will be several winners with various prize amounts. Some of the jurors work for places like TIME, Washington Post, The New York Times, and other publications. The submission fee is $20 per submission for a single image and $30 per submission for a photo series. This one could get a bit pricey if you apply to multiple categories, but I would still recommend checking it out!  

2021 Street Photography Award

This is a competition for street photography which was featured on the independent photographer website. The first prize is $1,000, second is $600, third is $400. It cots $15 to submit one image, $30 to submit 3 images, and $40 to submit 6 images. This seems like a less well known competition so hopefully that means a better shot at winning for those who are interested in entering! 

PH Museum 2021 Photo Grant

This grant by the Photographic Museum of Humanity offers $14,000 in grants to various categories. They also are awarding three solo shows, a residency, participation at festivals, and other prizes and awards. The entry fee is $40 and the deadline is February 18th so make sure to enter soon! You can submit one or more projects centered around a specific theme or narrative. 

Monochrome Awards International Black and White Photography Contest

This competition runs throughout 2021. Early deadline is July 4, and the final closing deadline is November 14, 2021. Winners will be announced early January 2022. There are both professional and amateur categories. The entry fees range from $15-25 per entry depending on when your enter and if you apply to professional or amateur. The grand prize is $2,000. Check out their website for more information! This looks like an awesome opportunity for black and white photographers!

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Visual Designers and Video artists are invited to submit 1 to 3 works addressing the theme.

The beginning of modernity in the artistic field is marked by the introduction of a perspective vision, thanks to which the figures, within a planar space, are arranged according to an order of depth of field. The object acquires an "internal space", and with this it takes autonomy from the external space and is no longer an object in a space, but is itself the creation of its own space of representation: it becomes removable, and can be displayed in any place. The act of extracting an object / subject, isolated or inserted in imaginary spaces, imposes an evaluative approach oriented on the intrinsic meaning - and aesthetic - of what is exposed, and with it imposes questions such as "how much context is needed for us to categorize an object? How much can be taken away before an object completely loses its identity, before it truly becomes something else?".

"We wanna see your best photos shot during “Magic Hour”. If you’re not familiar with the term, “Magic Hour” is that period after sunrise or before sunset where the light is soft and has a warmer colour temperature than usual (also referred to as “golden hour”)."

Submit up to 5 jpegs once you have paid the $8 or $60. Seems like a great resource to get your work published!

Chelsea International Photography Competition

 Chelsea International Photography Competition

The Chelsea International Photography Competition will open for entries December 8, 2020. The last day to enter will be April 27, 2021.

Digital, Analog, Phone Images and Images taken with any camera are all accepted. Videos are not allowed

The competition does not impose any restrictions in terms of the subject of the submitted photographs. The images may investigate any topic, from regional cultures and travel photography to commercial work and photojournalism.

Please note that all submitted images must be available for sale.

Amateur Photography:

• Each photographer must submit at least one (1) image on any topic of their choice.
• All images must be accompanied by a title.

Professional Photography:

• Each photographer must submit a minimum of five (5) images. The images may be part of a series or individual photographs.
• All entries must be accompanied by a title. You may also send in a series description (not mandatory).

Amateur Photography:
There is a $25 entry fee for up to 5 images in this category. There will be a charge of $5 for each additional image.

Professional Photography:
There is a $45 entry fee for up to 5 images in this category. There will be a charge of $5 for each additional image.

First Annual Foto Forum Santa Fe Photography Award

Foto Forum Santa Fe is proud to announce an open call for our First Annual Foto Forum Santa Fe Photography Award, an international competition open to emerging and established artists. The selected photographer receives a $1,000 cash prize, and a two month solo exhibition at our downtown Santa Fe gallery, located a short walk from the art hub surrounding SITE Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Railyard. The winner will also receive an additional $500 to help with the cost of having the work delivered to our gallery and returned to the artist. 2nd Place Award of $500 cash prize, 3 prints in our gallery art rack, and two month online gallery show featured on our website.

Foto Forum Santa Fe is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that creates an artistic space to explore the current relationship between photography, storytelling, science, and technology through artist exhibitions, workshops, visiting artist lectures, research, and community outreach. The Photography Award expands upon Foto Forum’s commitment to showcasing both contemporary work from established artists and giving opportunities for emerging photographers to find an audience.

The First Annual Foto Forum Santa Fe Photography Award is accepting entries November 25th, 2020 through May 3rd at 12pm MT, 2021, with results announced in the beginning of June and the show to open August 2nd, 2021. Photographers are invited to submit up to twelve images from a related body of work that is ready for exhibition. This year's Juror, Harry Gamboa, Jr., who last year was one of the jurors for the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery Contest, who is Co-Director of the Photo/Media Program at California Institute of the Arts, and is a co-founder of Asco (1972-1985), the Los Angeles-based performance group, will choose the winner based on creativity, cohesion, maturity, and quality of the individual photographs. The selected winner will work with Executive Director Sage Paisner to curate the final exhibition, which may include works not submitted with your application.
